URBAN WORKBOOK: SHADOW EXERCISE

For this exercise I was required to create a set of new images from an image consisting of strong shadows taken for lesson 1. Here the striking silhouette of a tree’s shadow captured in the late afternoon sun, it’s branches reach out like long limbs across the pavement.

Removing all other elements from the image and leaving just the shadow itself, the shadow component was then copied and reflected to make first two, then four elements. This was then rotated 90 degrees. The object was then repeated three more times, rotated and by the final outcome it had transformed into a beautiful organic star-like creation.

Experimenting with scale, colour and layer effects in Photoshop this star flower was then copied and repeated to create an eye-catching pattern.
