URBAN DUALITY: REDUX · NATURE · Process + Final Image II
For my second image I began exploring urban discontent and captivity through handmade and traditional collages. Human silhouettes as characters feeling a growing sense of constriction and claustrophobia within the urban landscapes they occupy, architecture and inescapable abundance of technology that surrounds them. Yearning for a sense of freedom, a return to simplicity and a reconnection with nature, boxes appear before them acting as portals or doorways to the untouched wilderness, natural terrains, wide open spaces and liberation.
FINAL IMAGE: II
I then envisioned a future of societal collapse and a seemingly inevitable end, where technological advancement has buckled under the weight of increasingly growing waste, population, consumption and depleting resources. Earth replenishes itself and reclaims the land, growth flourishes from the abandoned ruins of civilization and mankind is fused once again with nature.
