URBAN DUALITY: REDUX
For the second assessment of my ‘Thinking Visually’ class I am required to produce a suite of images, selecting the best four to illustrate a personal view of the city/urban environments and include the visual process/experimentation achieved along the way to reaching the final design outcome.
Given complete carte blanche on concept, theme and artistic mediums to utilize, I wish to carry the theme of urban duality over from my first assessment and will now really hone in on aspects of that duality that I recognize and identify with. I have decided to break it down into two parts, with two final images assigned to each part. (1.) The class divide and great disparity between those who occupy the top/middle tier and live exorbitantly and those who live in the shadow of such vast excess surviving on very little. (2.) Man’s history spanning relationship with nature and today’s subsequent sense of disconnection with those primordial roots.
